Women in Business
Hey Girls,
Thank you to those that exhibited and participated in 2009 at the F.L.A.S.H. Women in Business Networking Event. It was a great, fun year of networking and meeting some really awesome women! The event is held the 3rd Thursday of every month in Broken Arrow. January’s event will be held on January 21, 2010.
The theme for this month is NEW YEAR…NEW YOU! We have some great speakers lined up to help us kick start “US” for the new year.
As we did in 09, it is FREE to attend or $50.00 to exhibit which includes a 6’ draped table that allows you to display your product or service to Women in the Tulsa area.
There will be a few changes this year. As we did in 09 from 5:00 to 6:00 will be the exhibitor networking hour to give each of the exhibitors a chance to give a short commercial on your business. Starting this year, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. we will have various speakers presenting throughout the 2 hours, which is open to all women.
Timeline:
5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Networking Hour (Exhibitors Only)
6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Networking and Socializing (Open to all Women)
Speaking Schedule
6:15 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Personal Trainer giving us fitness tips to start the new year

No men allowed. That is the philosophy behind the Women in Business Expo.
Lisa Hardin, president and chief executive officer of e2 Worldwide Inc., started the monthly networking event after seeing the city lacked options for professional women to make business connections with fellow women.
“This is a vehicle for women to come and get their name out there to network,” she said. “I wanted to start a true networking group for just women in Tulsa, and as far I know I’m the only one that offers this.”
While local chambers sponsor networking events, and different expos are offered throughout the year, Hardin said she thinks her expo stands apart because it caters to women only, and it’s a monthly event.
So, on the third Thursday of every month Hardin opens the e2 offices to business owners and those working in the corporate world. While planning her first expo, Hardin found exhibitors through her contacts in the event-planning business she’d made and through word- of-mouth.
Destry Davis, a freelance makeup artist, said Hardin approached her about building a team of entrepreneurial women to support one another. Seeing the expo as a way to tout her airbrush makeup style, Davis said she immediately agreed to become an exhibitor.
“I think Lisa has a great idea, her whole thing of helping people grow business,” she said. “It’s not like another trade show or craft show, it’s a bit more classy. I think she is a little more selective on who she brings in qualitywise.”
Including exhibitors, about 30 people showed up to the August expo. The same exhibitors have been at every event, and Hardin said their consistency shows the potential of what the expo could turn into.
